Cath Lab
Clark Regional Medical Center's New Cardiac Catherization Lab
Our state-of-the-art Cath Lab allows us to access heart and blood vessels using a minimally invasive approach to diagnose and treat heart conditions. In cardiac catheterization, a very small catheter is inserted into a vessel in the groin or arm and directed to the heart. Treatments that once required open-heart surgery can be done with small incisions during an outpatient or short-term hospital visit. This means patients experience less pain and recover much more quickly.
Patient Stories
Our procedures include:
· Coronary angiogram
· Cardiac stents and balloons
· Thrombectomy (coronary, pulmonary
and peripheral vascular)
· Installation of temporary and
permanent pacemakers
· Installation of internal defibrillators
The 2,500 square foot building encompasses four pre-procedure bays as well as a post-procedure recovery area. The cath lab is located behind the ambulance bay and surgery pick up area of the hospital. This location is close to the emergency department, ensuring convenient access to rapid evaluation for patients experiencing a cardiac event.
